A Weekend Excursion
After a decade of watching and wanting to go on a road trip on a motorcycle, I am finally doing it. My destination? A float trip with some old friends that I desperately need to reconnect with. Both saddlebags and a backpack packed to the brim. With full gear on and directions wrapped around my left arm I set out from St. Charles to drive two hours south to Lesterville.

A Day on the Road
My first stop for the day is a coffee shop on Main St. Thought about it as soon as I woke. The weather is mild, the sun is hidden, the streets are dry: a great day for riding.
My heart is heavy. I’m not chipper. I’m glad this isn’t a work day, my work would suffer. I’m hoping some people watching and observation will serve as meditation will change this.
There is a row of motorcycles parked outside the coffee shop. Kindred spirits. It made me smile as I came around the corner. And not just because I will have a good parking spot. A new Victory, a Honda adventure bike, a Harley cruiser, and my Harley sportster.
